Words cannot always do the work we need them to. Music is there for when words fail us.

About This Quote

It’s an awesome feeling when your song means something to someone else. It’s awesome when people listen to it and feel something that words cannot do justice to. Years ago, when I was in high school, my friend Harry introduced me to a new song by Ray LaMontagne. It was called “Superstar” and it was probably the best love song I had ever heard.

It made me feel things that words fail to capture. The song put me in an incredible mood. I couldn’t stop singing it, even though I knew it wasn’t about me.

Harry had told me about the lyrics but I had no idea what they meant. The meaning of the song never became clear for me until years later when Harry told me that Ray LaMontagne was singing about heroin addiction. At that point, I realized that music is there for when words fail us.
